Build. Repair. Shelter. Rehabilitate.

A safe, warm home for every neighbor

Snow Belt Housing is a Lowville nonprofit helping Lewis County residents find an affordable apartment, keep a roof overhead, and repair the homes they own. We've been doing it since 1982.

Whether we build, repair and rehabilitate homes or provide emergency shelter options to our neighbors, as a community we can make sure everyone has a safe place to live.

Nowhere to stay tonight?

Our programs

Property management

Affordable apartments

For seniors, people with a disability, and working families.

We manage 172 apartments in Lowville, Copenhagen, Croghan, Harrisville and Lyons Falls. Our senior and disability apartments include rental assistance, so you pay about 30% of your income. Water, sewer and trash are included everywhere.

Homeless prevention

Help getting stable

For households facing eviction or without a home.

Our rapid rehousing program can cover a security deposit and several months of rent so you can move into a safe, stable apartment.

Home rehabilitation

Repairs for the home you own

For income-qualified homeowners, landlords and first-time buyers.

Grant funding pays for repairs that keep your home safe, warm and dry: roofs, heating, electrical, plumbing, foundations and accessibility.

Keep a neighbor warm this winter

Your gift helps a Lewis County family move in, stay housed or fix a failing furnace.
